Magentar Space is a dedicated amateur group of engineers and rocket enthusiasts located across the United States. The group's goal is to build, test, and fly the first amateur turbo-pump driven rocket engine. Our team is made up of a multi-discipline group that brings aspects of industrial rocketry, aerospace manufacturing, and computer science together.

We are currently developing our first static fire campaign with the TARS-1 engine slated for testing in spring 2023. The group is devoting their personal time to build everything from the ground up. This includes the hand woven carbon fiber ablative engine, custom welded test stand, and mobile industrial control system.

We have also successfully raised $10K in funding to start work on our project. The we are grateful for external funding to help offset the cost of this expensive hobby!

Team Role:
Control Systems Hardware Lead & Manufacturing Support
  • Designing an industrial hardware based stand and operator control system
  • Hardware will be housed in hard cases for portability and locally networked at test site
  • Developing PLC & Raspberry Pi based control scheme
